CHG Business of the Month

Congratulations to CHG January Business of the Month…Sophie Carter Exclusive Properties

Recently CHG director Shaun Costello, interviewed General Manager Cara Carter who spoke about the business…

Shaun: What is your core business?

We are a sales only boutique real estate agency that specialises on the border, anywhere from Currumbin down to Pottsville. Sophie has been selling for 19 years now, initially working with her family then onto Ray White when her parents decided to take a break. When we opened our business, we always had the vision to keep it small, personal and tailored. We didn’t want to build an empire but rather keep it manageable in an industry that can be pretty intense so that we continue to love our work every day!

Shaun: How long have you been operating and how many staff do you have?

We opened in October 2014, there are six of us here in Australia and two virtual assistants in the Philippines who we would be lost without!

Shaun: Do you have any exciting news for the business?

I guess it is kind of business-related, but the most exciting thing this year for Sophie Carter Exclusive Properties is Sophie welcoming our second son in about 6 weeks 🙂 We have gone from strength to strength each year since opening and built a really strong foundation and incredible team so although we see this year to be another exciting year in the property game, we will be juggling our time a bit differently.

Shaun: What has been the most difficult part in managing the business through COVID?

The trickiest part of the past 2 years was the border! Not only were the physical border barricades a total headache and time waster but in the beginning especially, the continual changes of rules and regulations for both states kept you on your toes. The team took it in their stride and we all worked through it together ensuring we were keeping us safe, clients safe and adhering to the rules that were different to each state. We are a very tech-savvy agency already and paperless so thankfully we had everything electronic already (signing all agencies/contracts etc), we all worked from home a lot more and caught up via zoom weekly and when needed which worked really well.

Shaun: What has been the biggest win for the business through COVID?

There is no denying the Real Estate market has gone ballistic since covid-19 hit in march 2020. So yes we have seen our biggest years yet but in saying that, we would rather have never experienced this pandemic over financial gain. Another win however is how our agency does now run so seamlessly online, electronically and how all of our team are thriving working from home or from the office depending on their day. Our time management is brilliant 🙂
